Previously the home to Tuscan restaurant, Barolo offered Italian fare with an extensive wine list and antipasti bar.

Business at the 88-seat restaurant seemed to slow in the past year despite a fast start and positive reviews.

Laura Budd of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, of which Barolo had been a member, said the restaurant “provided another high-quality restaurant experience in New Canaan, so of course we are sorry to see them go.”

“They had hosted one of our chamber events and did a fabulous job,” Budd said. “We know they had many dedicated customers and we wish the owner good luck in the future and we’re sorry that this location didn’t work out for them.”

Some of the owners had partnered with executive chef Giusseppe Castellano at Gallo in Ridgefield, Tiella in New York City and Gran Gusto in Cambridge, Mass.
