Felony Alcohol Charges for Two New Canaan Boys, 16

Police arrested two New Canaan teens by warrant last week in connection with a December house party on Ponus Ridge.

The 16-year-olds are accused of bringing 30-packs of beer to an underage drinking party on Dec. 5 (a Friday) and not leaving after the youth who lives there had asked them to, according to a police report.

Each teen was charged with providing alcohol to minors, a felony offense, and first-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

The party had been attended by about 50 to 60 youths, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department. Police arrived at about 9 p.m. after receiving a report of an underage drinking party.

According to Ogrinc, the party had started as a gathering of younger teens and then older kids started showing up, including the two who were arrested.

Police withheld their names because of their ages. The teens likely will go on juvenile probation, Ogrinc said.

One turned himself in at 6:55 p.m. on Jan. 13 and the other turned himself in at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 15. Their cases were referred to the Juvenile Matters Division of state Superior Court in Stamford, where they were scheduled to appear Jan. 20.

  1. Maybe these 2 know the 18-year old from Wilton who was charged with a felony for liberating a mascot flag from the New Canaan football stadium. Felony arrests must be disclosed in certain occupations. Overcharged a little?
