Police late Wednesday afternoon arrested a 24-year-old Norwalk man on a felony charge after finding a 10-inch police-style baton in his car during a traffic stop.

At about 4:35 p.m. on May 24, an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle traveling northbound on White Oak Shade Road displaying illgal tints in its windows, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the officer smelled burnt marijuana emitting from the car and saw the weapon in plain view, the report said.

Police charged him with weapons in a motor vehicle—a felony-level offense—and cited him for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car also was cited for the drug charges, and issued an infraction summons.
