The store offered a broad range of fresh food choices aimed to meet everyone’s needs—however, according to Lisa Strupp, an owner of Good2Gourmet, “Ultimately, we were not able to grow the business to a size that made sense for our initial vision.”

Available by pick up and delivery, the store’s offerings ranged from children’s meals to ready-to-go entrees that included vegan and gluten-free options.

“We were disappointed to hear that Good2Gourmet was closing, it really was a unique offering for families in New Canaan,” said Laura Budd of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. “They had delivery service as well as a wide variety of food. It’s too bad and we wish them well in the future.”

It had opened last June in the 1,500-square-foot space at 31 Vitti St., formerly Eclectic and Vitti Street Deli.

It is challenging to succeed in the food industry in New Canaan, according to Budd.

“The food business in New Canaan is very lively but also very competitive,” she said. “Close to 18 percent of the retail level businesses are food-based.”

Strupp said she was grateful for those in New Canaan and other towns that supported the business.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all our loyal customers and to our talented and dedicated staff at Good2Gourmet,” Strupp said.
