Emad Aziz of the Apple Cart Food Co. has opened the Mead Park Lodge for the 2018 season, with several new items on the popular menu.

“I am excited, I am happy,” Aziz said Tuesday from his pristine kitchen in the gourmet food hut. “I cannot wait until it warms up.”

The town resident is in the final year of a 5-year lease with the town.

His menu this year features additions such as the Mead Park Steak & Cheese sandwich on brioche “with our own secret sauce.”

“Nobody should ask what is in it, because we’re not going to tell anybody,” Aziz said.

“We also are cooking our own roast beef in-house right now, as well as our own roast turkey. We added an Apple Cart Market Salad, with organic beets, avocadoes and caramelized walnuts. We added an amazing curried chicken salad and we added corn nuggets and to everybody’s happiness our chicken nuggets are now all-white meat and gluten-free.”

The menu also features popular mainstays such as the Mead Park Breakfast Wrap—selected as one of New Canaan’s “Best Breakfast Sandwiches” by a local man in the know—Buffalo Chicken Wrap and fresh organic soups.

Aziz also has run concessions at Dunning Field, Waveny Pool, Kiwanis Park, Middlesex Swimming and Tennis Club in Darien and Roxbury Swim & Tennis Club in Stamford.

  1. Emad is charming, his food is delicious and the Health Dept always gives the Apple Cart the highest score. This special Mead park facility is adjacent to the flagpole which was dedicated to the spirit and enthusiasm of Allan Jay in 2004.
My favorite place in town. Peggy Jay.

  2. The Kiwanis Park facility is NOT open on a regular basis during the summer. One vendor should not have a monopoly over all our parks. Let’s consider getting another vendor in Kiwanis Park during the summer…so that the facility can be open during the posted hours of operation for park and beach attendees.
