Memorial Day Barbeque 2017

Celebrate Memorial Day with an outdoor Barbeque at Grace Farms, with free time to explore 80 acres of diverse natural landscape, and remember those who gave their lives with time for reflection. The day will include activities for families and individuals of all ages, as well as visitors looking to simply relax and enjoy time with family and friends.

10 am–12 pm | Open Art Studio for Kids | WB Art Studio

Families with children of all ages are invited to collaborate and create in a rotating schedule of self-guided, fun-filled, hands-on, art activities.

11 am–3 pm | Lunch with BBQ Special | Commons

Lunch can be purchased in the Commons from a limited menu featuring options from Grace Farms menu, as well as BBQ specials made on site in our BBQ Courtyard.

11:30 am | Bunny Book Group | Library

Pull up a colorful, SANAA-designed Rabbit Chair and join us for Bunny Book Group, a children’s story hour in the Library that will introduce young readers (aged 2-6) to family-friendly classics.

11:30 am–12:15 pm | Field Games | Athletic Field

Enjoy corn hole, ladder toss, kickball, and other games, with appropriate options for all ages on our Athletic field.

12 pm & 2 pm | BBQ Demonstrations | Barbeque Courtyard

Learn some of our favorite recipes and BBQ cooking techniques from our culinary team, who will be performing cooking demonstrations in our Barbeque Courtyard.

12 pm & 2 pm | Tours of the Garden | Community Garden

Enjoy tours of Grace Farms Community Garden, an organic garden that supports the Foundation’s sustainability initiatives and includes twenty raised beds home to a variety of plants, flowers, vegetables, and fruits.

12:30 pm | Family Matinee | Commons Lecture Hall

Enjoy a family film and popcorn in the Commons Lecture Hall.

1:30 pm–2 pm | Conversation in the Pavilion | Tea Pavilion

Grace Farms Foundation’s Director of Operations Adam Thatcher will engage visitors in a conversation memorializing those who’ve served our country by sharing diary entries from his Father’s personal account of serving in WWII.

2:30 pm | Hunt for the Samurai Subs | Commons Lecture Hall

Enjoy National Geographic Channel’s Hunt for the Samurai Subs by Wildlife Productions, and follow a team of explorers as they prepare to dive nearly 3,000 feet to hunt for fallen WWII submarines.
