New Canaan Library Launches Spring Edition Author Talk and Lunch, Featuring Min Jin Lee, Author of New York Times Bestseller Pachinko
May 23 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm$150.
New Canaan Library is pleased to announce the debut of Spring Edition, a special author talk and casual lunch which will be held at the Country Club of Darien on May 23rd, 11 -2 p.m. Guest speaker, author Min Jin Lee, will speak about her New York Times bestselling book, Pachinko, which was selected as one of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 best books of 2017. “A haunting epic tale…Despite the compelling sweep of time and history, it is the characters and their tumultuous lives that propel the narrative…A compassionate, clear gaze at the chaotic landscape of life itself.” New York Times Book Review
“We are very honored to welcome Min Jin Lee to our community to inaugurate a new spring season fundraising event that brings readers and authors into in-depth discussion” says Ellen Sullivan Crovatto, Director of Development for the Library. “We are looking forward to the relaxed format and beautiful venue that The Country Club of Darien can offer us, and appreciate the generous corporate sponsorship provided by Bankwell and by Fatou Niang of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty.”
Co-chairs Kate Burt, Diana Ferguson and Holly Parmelee have planned a special afternoon that they hope will inspire all readers and especially the many book groups that are active in town. “The Asian-themed buffet lunch, reflecting the Japanese – Korean world of Pachinko, will offer a great time for mingling and socializing with friends, followed by theater style seating for the author’s talk and discussion” notes Kate Burt.
Importantly, this event will also honor the significant contributions of Lydee Hummel and Anda Hutchins, longstanding supporters and Trustees of New Canaan Library.
“We are grateful and lucky to have such devoted and thoughtful leaders in our orbit and are so pleased to recognize their significant contributions on this afternoon,” notes Lisa Oldham, Executive Director.
Following the author’s talk there will be a book signing, courtesy of Elm Street Books.
