$55

New Canaan Lacrosse Association, is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaching Instructional Clinic at New Canaan High School on March 8, 2015. US Lacrosse’s Coaching Education Program (CEP) is a broad, multi-level program designed to help lacrosse coaches of all experiences become better on and off the field.

Attendees listen and take notes during a US Lacrosse coaching clinic held at NCHS in October 2010. The clinic returns on Sunday, March 8th with new classroom materials and hands-on clinic demonstrations.

The instructional clinic is one of several components required to obtain US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaching Certification and will offer separate instruction for both Men’s and Women’s coaches. The curriculum also includes a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Double Goal Coaching Workshop, a separate component of Level 1 certification.

“The current Board of NCLA is proud of our track record of running a high quality youth sports program that has proven to provide our youth players with both a positive learning experience and prepare them to play at the next level, no matter how high that may be,” commented Mary Cuoco, current President of NCLA. She continued, “as our program has grown to now include almost 1,000 local youth, both boys and girls, the need for qualified coaching has grown as well. Working directly with leaders at US Lacrosse to bring a high quality coaching program like this to New Canaan is a huge plus for our local program and I invite anyone interested in coaching to take advantage and attend.”

Members of the US Lacrosse team that conducted a Coaching Clinic at NCHS in October 2010 will be back with new material and hands on demonstrations on Sunday, March 8th.

NCHS Girls’ Varsity Coach, Kristin Woods, added “the success of our NCHS Boys and Girls Lacrosse program has its roots in the NCLA youth program. Having young athletes prepared with the basic skills is a huge advantage and that means teaching the game in a consistent manner across all grade levels. The sport of lacrosse is lucky to have such a strong national organization in US Lacrosse that has really helped bring the game to a whole new level, and for our youth coaches to have the opportunity to attend a clinic like this is huge.”

The last time NCLA was able to arrange a local coaching clinic like this was in October 2010, so this opportunity does not come around often. Interested individuals are encouraged to take advantage. This clinic is open to parents interested in helping to coach their kids as well as anyone in the community interested in staying active by helping to coach a youth sport. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country. This is your invitation to join the coaching team that will lead New Canaan Lacrosse into the future.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn the basics and gain immeasurable confidence just in time for the spring season! Our clinic will be held at New Canaan High School from 9:00am-4:00pm on Sunday, March 8, 2015. Spaces are limited for both boys and girls coaches. Register today before US Lacrosse publicizes to their wider audience. Follow this link (please note: Men’s clinics are listed first, followed by Women’s).

NCLA is grateful for support from the Connecticut Chapter of US Lacrosse, who will be subsidizing the cost of the event for all US Lacrosse members in the area. The discounted cost will be $55 per person ($70 after February 26th), which includes lunch and all clinic materials. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a lacrosse stick.
