Police on Sunday morning arrested a 35-year-old New Canaan many and charged him with disorderly conduct.

At about 7:49 a.m. on Dec. 24, officers were dispatched to a New Norwalk road home on a report of a disturbance involving two occupants of the house, police said.

Following an investigation, they charged the man with the misdemeanor offense.

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved, whether it turned physical or whether the arrested man is related to the victim. Police withheld details, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.

The man was released after promising to appear Dec. 26 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
