NewCanaanite.com Surpasses 5 Million Pageviews

More

NewCanaanite.com last Wednesday afternoon surpassed 5 million pageviews since launching in January 2014.

The daily newsletter on that day featured articles about the school district live-streaming athletic contests starting next academic year, what New Canaan High School seniors are doing this summer and new sidewalks planned for Park Street. During the day, the New Canaanite broke a story about the arrest of a woman found to have left a young child in a car downtown.

Here’s a look at traffic year-over-year on the site:

Traffic year-to-date is up 17 percent in 2018.

Called “New Canaan’s go-to website” by Connecticut Magazine, NewCanaanite.com focuses on quality-of-life matters for residents, such as land use, public safety, traffic, pets and wildlife, parking, schools, local history and the downtown. The site has garnered dozens of awards from the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and has been featured in several publications covering the fields of media and journalism.

The site recently published its 5,000th article. Recently, NewCanaanite.com brought on an editorial board and launched “Full Disclosure,” a monthly column by New Canaan’s Susan Gelvin.

On the first Thursday of each month, in partnership with New Canaan Library, NewCanaanite.com owner-editor Michael Dinan hosts a community coffee. All are welcome to attend the free event, an informal chat about what’s happening in town that runs 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month (we serve Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee).
