Police on Tuesday morning arrested a 35-year-old Norwalk man in connection with a burglary in New Canaan last month.

At about 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 15, a Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a Smith Ridge Road home on a report of a burglary that had occurred some time between 8:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. that day, according to a police report.
The home’s doors had been locked, yet it appeared as though someone had entered through a window, the report said.
Missing items included about $1,800 in jewelry, it said.
Two days later, New Canaan Police were contacted by Darien Police about an attempted burglary in their town, the report said. The homeowner obtained a license plate and, as a result, Norwalk Police found the suspect vehicle and took Bonilla and an accomplice into custody, it said. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a singular piece of jewelry that had been taken from the home in New Canaan, police said.
Bonilla and his accomplice confessed to New Canaan Police about the Smith Ridge Road burglary, leading to a warrant for their arrests, the report said.
Bonilla was held and scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk. Police said they expect to bring charges against the accomplice soon.
