Police on Thursday arrested a 54-year-old Heritage Hill Road man for drunk driving after he left the scene of an accident downtown.

At about 11:58 a.m. on June 23, officers were dispatched to the Acme parking lot on Elm Street on a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident where one motorist had left the scene, according to a police report.

Following an investigation, police located the suspect vehicle at the arrested man’s address, the report said. He refused to undergo field sobriety or breath tests, it said.

Police charged him with driving under the influence and evading responsibility.

He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear July 6 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
