Finally, a Stamford-based businessman reported to police at 10:27 a.m. on May 21 that he fraudulently had been put down as a co-signer on a credit application for a car.

The complainant, a 50-year-old Westport man, finally was contacted by a collection agency about repossessing the 2012 Silverado truck—prompting his bringing the matter to police, Ogrinc said.

Investigators are following one lead that the person behind the falsified application is a former employee of the Stamford-based company.
