New Canaan Police Open Applications for ‘Civilian Police Academy’; Deadline March 31

New Canaan Police on Monday opened applications for a re-launched program designed to forge even stronger bonds between the department’s officers and wider community. The 2017 Civilian Police Academy will run 6 to 9 p.m., one night per week from April 18 to June 13, according to a press bulletin issued by Chief Leon Krolikowski. Billed as an opportunity for residents to gain “hands-on” experience of the department’s operations, the program will be limited to about 20 people, the chief told members of the Police Commission at their regular monthly meeting on Monday night. “We are looking to build better relations with those who attend the class,” Krolikowski said at the meeting, held in Town Hall. Applications, embedded below and available on the department’s website here (along with a program brochure), are due March 31.
