New Construction Planned for Cedar Lane

The town last week received an application to build a 6,240-square-foot home on a 1.55-acre Cedar Lane lot. The property at 258 Cedar Lane is in the 2-acre zone and it sold for $850,000 in June, tax records show. Its new owner—a limited liability company controlled by two Jericho, N.Y. residents, according to Connecticut Secretary of the State records—in July obtained a permit to demolish the 1954-built split-level ranch that had stood there. The new home will more than double the size of the old one. New Construction Planned for Orchard Lane

The New Canaan Building Department on July 10 received an application to construct a new home on a .47-acre on Orchard Lane nearly five times the size of the Cape Cod-style house that had stood there since 1947. The house planned for 16 Orchard Lane includes 6,043 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, two full bathrooms and two half baths, according to the building permit application. It will include a total of 13 rooms and will cost about $1 million to build, the application said. The Cape that had stood there was demolished in May, according to town building records. The town on Tuesday received an application to build a 6,080-square-foot home on a 6-acre Briscoe Road lot where a 1953-built modern-style home less than half that size now stands. The new 6-bedroom home at 92 Briscoe Road will include five full bathrooms, two half-baths, two fireplaces and a partially finished basement and attic, according to the building permit application. It will cost about $850,000 to build, according to the application, and the architect and contractor on the job is the property owner. The property had been purchased for $1,128,000 in July 2014, tax records show. ***

New Construction Planned for Lambert Road

Town officials on Wednesday received an application to build a new 6,300-square-foot house on a Lambert Road property, roughly tripling the size of the home that had stood there before. The five-bedroom house at 134 Lambert Road will include five full bathrooms, two half-baths, a three-car attached garage and unfinished attic and basement, according to the building permit application. It will cost about $1.2 million to build, the application said. The contractor on the job is Norwalk’s Patrick Meenan, and the architect is Tucker Chase of Stratford, the application said. A new single-family home is planned for a 2-acre lot on Parting Brook Road where a 1956-built Cape Cod-style house had stood. The house at 36 Parking Brook Road will include 5,031 square feet of living space, according to a building permit application submitted April 17 to the town. To be built by Darien-based Fox Hill Builders and designed by Mansfield’s New England Design Inc. will have six bedrooms and full bathrooms, one half-bath, a partially finished basement that includes a full bath and a three-car garage, the application said.
