DESCRIPTION:The 2018 Sakura Matsuri\, or Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival\, will be held on Sunday\, May 6\, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Mead Park in New Canaan.\nThe event will feature traditional Japanese a folk dance\, taiko drumming by UConn Taiko\, the story of Hachiko (a loyal Akita dog) and Spartacus (an American Akita therapy dog with K9 First Responders). Hands-on activities include dressing in traditional kimonos\, ikebana flower arranging for kids\, origami (paper folding)\, fabric wrapping\, and calligraphy.\nThis event is sponsored by the Japan Society of Fairfield County and the Consulate General of Japan in New York.
