DESCRIPTION:The collaborative series “Glass House Presents at New Canaan Library” is pleased to offer a virtual presentation by curator Fritz Horstman on the art of Anni Albers\, the preeminent textile artist of the 20th century. The “Glass House Presents” series is generously supported by New Canaan Community Foundation.  \nKnown for her pioneering graphic wall hangings\, weavings\, and designs\, Anni Albers (1899-1994) is considered the most important textile artist of the 20th century. Slated to have been on view at the New Britain Museum of American Art March 19 – June 20\, 2020\, the exhibition “In Thread and On Paper: Anni Albers in Connecticut” explores the groundbreaking work Albers produced in Connecticut in the 1950s through the end of her life. Comprising 116 objects from the collection of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation\, the exhibition includes an extensive body of textiles\, wall hangings\, commercial collaborations\, and works on paper. Join the exhibition’s curator\, Fritz Horstman\, for a lively talk about Albers’s significant contributions to art and design.
