Gypsy Music: A Celebration of Myth and Music, Performed by Concert Violinist Dr. David Podles at New Canaan Library

New Canaan Library presents a unique outdoor musical performance by internationally acclaimed concert violinist Dr. David Podles. “Trail of Mystery: An Enchanting Gypsy Experience in Concert” will bring to life the mysterious gypsy culture, whose music is rich in tradition and mysticism. The performance takes place on Thursday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Christine’s Garden, corner of Maple Street and South Avenue, adjacent to the Library. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating; please register for this program online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Dr. Podles will perform music from Hungary, Romania, India, Poland, the Baltic States, Russia and other Slavic countries. The musical tour will showcase specific Gypsy pieces that represent this intriguing culture. Dr. David Podles of Riga, Latvia graduated from the Riga Conservatory with a PhD in music and is laureate of 3 prestigious international competitions. He has performed in symphony, chamber, opera and ballet theater orchestras both solo, in orchestra and on tour across Russia, including The Bolshoi and Kirov, throughout Europe and the U.S. David has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, 92nd Y and at Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.
