SUMMARY:Housing Authority Chair Scott Hobbs to Speak to Men’s Club
DESCRIPTION:The chair of the New Canaan Housing Authority will speak to the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday about the authority’s work and the status of affordable housing in the town. Scott Hobbs\, who has been the authority’s chairman since 2014\, will also update the club on the authority’s properties.\nThe meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church\, 111 Oenoke Ridge\, with Hobbs scheduled to begin his remarks at about 10:40 a.m. The Housing Authority describes its mission as being to “provide decent\, safe\, fair and affordable housing and to accept and process applications” for residents.\nHobbs is president of Hobbs Inc.\, a multi-state\, high-end\, custom home builder incorporated in 1954. He is a long-time resident of New Canaan whose family dates back several generations in town. Along with the Housing Authority\, he has also served on multiple building committees for the town.\nBy the time the meeting takes place\, Gov. Ned Lamont will have taken action on much-debated housing legislation passed in the recent General Assembly session.\nBecause of the public interest in affordable housing topics\, both statewide and in New Canaan\, the club is opening the meeting to spouses during the portion of the meeting Hobbs will be speaking\, beginning at 10:40 a.m.\nThe Men’s Club has openings for men 55-years old and above.
