DESCRIPTION: New Canaan\, CT— Jean Jacobs Gallery is pleased to present Michael DesRosiers: In Plain Sight opening reception on Saturday\, May 7th\, 2022 from 6pm-9pm at 84 Main Street New Canaan\, CT 06840. \nIn Plain Sight chronicles an unexpected equilibrium between the artist’s experience in nature and his accumulative knowledge of the materials and processes he uses to create his work. As is clearly seen\, DesRosiers does not attempt to replicate a particular natural observation\, rather he distills his perception to reflect what is an interrelated fabric of concurrent events. It is by synthesizing the layered colors and textures that are so eloquently expressed by nature\, DesRosiers produces a nonobjective sensibility unique to him. \nAssembled as they are In Plain Sight\, DesRosiers’s works exemplify a personalized artistic handwriting\, a cursive drawn from his experience as a painter\, one often written in rich color and one that utilizes intricate complex patterns. DesRosiers repeatedly asks us to see what is plainly before us\, stripped of any narrative circumstance.
