SUMMARY:Land Trust Annual Meeting to Feature Noted Nantucket Conservationist Jim Lentowski
DESCRIPTION:The annual membership meeting of the New Canaan Land Trust will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday\, Jan. 22 at the Country Club of New Canaan. The public is welcome to attend. Following an update on Land Trust operations\, volunteer activities and finances\, the meeting will highlight the impressive conservation success achieved on Nantucket. \nOur guest speaker Jim Lentowski has worked to protect Nantucket’s scenic landscapes and natural resources for over 40 years. As executive director of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation he has had an enormous and permanent conservation impact on one of the most unique and scenic places in the United States. \nJim’s conservation ethic sprouted from his experiences as a Boy Scout\, where his enjoyment of nature was fostered by outdoor exploration and projects focused on protecting natural resources for the greater good. \nWhen Jim was hired as the first paid employee in 1971\, the Foundation protected 1\,200 acres. Today the Foundation protects 8\,950 acres\, nearly one-third of Nantucket’s 30\,000 acres. \nPlease come join us to celebrate the conservation work done by Jim Lentowski with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and gain new inspiration about preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us here in New Canaan. \n
