DESCRIPTION:-In a collaborative effort\, New Canaan Library and Staying Put in New Canaan present a three part series entitled Necessary Conversations\, which addresses issues related to adult children and their aging parents. The second discussion\, Midnight in The ER: Do You Know What Mom or Dad Wants? will take place on Wednesday\, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org. The third discussion will be held on Wednesday\, February 7 at 6:30 p.m.\nMedical emergencies are stressful enough – not knowing the patient’s preferences makes it all the more so. As a parent ages\, it’s vital to be prepared for decisions that need to be made. The panel will cover topics such as helping parents choose a medical advocate\, deciding on DNR orders\, and other important issues.\nThe panel will be moderated by Nicola Holzberger\, Director of Member Services\, Staying Put in New Canaan\, and will include a discussion by Sherman Bull\, MD\, Stamford Health; and cover topics such as palliative care by Kristin Edwards\, MD\, Yale-New Haven Health\, and legal documents and directives by Michelle Beltrano\, J.D.\, R.N.\, Beltrano Law. \n
