SUMMARY:Origins & Originals Percussion Concert
DESCRIPTION:An eclectic and stimulating concert with classical/contemporary percussionist Russell Fisher. \nFisher will perform “Origins & Originals\,” a mix of acoustic and electro-acoustic works for marimba\, vibraphone and steelpan. Featuring music that contributes to the construction of one’s identity from both the past and present\, selections range from J.S. Bach\, Louis Armstrong\, the Beatles and Steve Reich to emerging composers like Sophia Jani and Liam Teague. \nAn active member of the booming steel pan scene\, Fisher has performed in Panorama competitions with both Crossfire Steel Orchestra and CASYM Steel Orchestra. It has been his personal mission to continue to commission and perform new works for steel pan. \n
