He wanted to return land that had been devastated by coal mines\, railroads\, over-grazing\, and oil drilling into what it had been historically – a thriving\, biodiverse ecosystem. \nSince his purchase\, scientists\, land use planners\, wildlife experts\, ranchers\, and conservationists have worked together to undo the damage done to this incredible landscape.
