SUMMARY:Rowayton Arts Center Adult Workshop with Lenny Moskowitz on March 9 and 10
DESCRIPTION:Lenny Moskowitz will be teaching a workshop called “Bending Reality – Color Theory Schemes and Strategies” at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) the weekend of March 9 and 10\, from 10 am to 4 pm each day. This workshop is open-ended\, a whole world of possibilities. Participants will be sourcing abstraction by simplifying from natural forms and delving into their personal interior landscape.  \nDemonstrations will cover idea collecting\, collage\, simplified drawing\, cropping and mixed media painting.  The group will view the works of other artists and discuss concepts such as space\, values and depth\, basic color theory\, composition\, simplification\, and the viewing window. We will also be exploring simple processes for transforming and developing compositions from a landscape source. These approaches combine to establish a point of departure\, unto which self-expression and creativity present endless possibilities. \nThis workshop will be especially suited for people who are looking to learn to work more loosely or feel they are in a rut. It will also be great for a beginner who has never worked abstractly. Previous experience is not necessary but coming to the workshop with a playful attitude is suggested.\nLenny Moskowitz is a Connecticut landscape painter who lives in New Haven with his wife. Lenny has participated in both group and solo shows at numerous Galleries throughout the U.S. and has taught classes and workshops in Connecticut\, Block Island\, and Nantucket. Presently he teaches at Quinnipiac University and the Guilford Art Center. He has been awarded several artist residencies\, including at the Anderson Center in Minnesota and at the NISDA Foundation on Nantucket\, MA.
