SUMMARY:Schubert Recital at First Presbyterian Church
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning tenor John Park will present a 30 minute recital on Sunday\, February 22 at 11:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church\, 178 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan. The concert will feature favorite songs by Franz Schubert\, with Sean McCarthy at the piano. Mr. Park is a native of Los Angeles\, and has performed a wide repertoire of both concert and operatic works throughout the United States and Italy. He is the recipient of numerous awards\, including First Place in the National Operatic Association Awards. \nIn the words of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau\, the distinguished baritone and Schubert scholar: “Franz Schuber transformed a world of poetry into music. He raised the art song (Kuntslied) to hitherto unknown heights and laid bare the essence of all art: intensity\, concentration\, a distillation into the purest of forms.” Mr. Park and Dr. McCarthy will share some of their own insights with the audience in this informal 30-minute program of “lively music and musical conversation.” \nPlan to enjoy complimentary gourmet coffee and biscotti while you listen to inspiring music.
