SUMMARY:Straws film screening with Maritime Aquarium
DESCRIPTION:Straws explores how discarded straws and other types of single-use plastic are choking our waterways and oceans. This pollutes the water and kills wildlife as it transforms shoreline communities where people live and play into dangerous dumping grounds. Planet New Canaan will be screening the 33-minute documentary\, which features animated segments and is narrated by Oscar winner Tim Robbins.\nFollowing the film\, Dr. David Hudson\, Research Scientist\, and Bridget Cervero\, Education Manager\, both from the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium\, will share how ordinary people can help. Through the Maritime Aquarium’s “Citizen Science” program\, Hudson and Cervero and their fellow scientists enlist citizens of diverse ages and abilities in projects to advance research and conservation. They will discuss how their “Citizen Science” initiative to minimize single-use plastic is making a difference\, and how each of us can get involved in our own way. \n
