DESCRIPTION:Ted Henken\, PhD\, will speak at the World Affairs Forum on March 18 at the Ernest A. DiMattia\, Jr. Main Library (Ferguson Library)\, Third Floor Auditorium in Stamford on “The Future of US-Cuba Economic Relations: Obama Has Opened The Door\, But Is Raul Castro Willing To Enter? ”. The program will begin at 5:45 P.M. with networking and refreshments\, followed by the presentation at 6:15. The program will conclude at 7:30 P.M. \nProfessor Henken is currently Associate Professor of Sociology and Latin American Studies at CUNY Baruch. He is also an accomplished author\, his latest book “Entrepreneurial Cuba: The Changing Policy Landscape”\, co-authored with the eminent Canadian economist Archibald R.M. Ritter\, was published in January 2015. Henken is also the author of the blog\, “El Yuma”.\nHenken is President Ex-Officio of the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy (ASCE) and is frequently interviewed by leading international newspapers and media outlets on Cuba\, including The New York Times\, The Christian Science Monitor\, CNBC\, the AP\, Reuters\, The Miami Herald\, the Wall Street Journal\, NPR and the BBC’s “The World” program\, among others. He has also served as a consultant about Cuba for Freedom House\, The Boston Red Sox\, CNN\, and the U.S. Department of State. \nProfessor Henken holds a Doctorate from Tulane University’s Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies. \nThe cost for admission to the event is $20 per person for the general public and is free for 2014-2015 Forum and AR Series members\, faculty and students.
