SUMMARY:Tom Nissley to Speak on Ferris Hill House
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Tom Nissley presents the preservation history and the future of the house located on the corner of Canoe Hill Road and Ferris Hill Road that was recently saved from demolition by him and his wife Emily. Saved: An Iconic House takes place September 19th at 7:30 pm in the Lindstrom Room at The New Canaan Historical Society. Included will be: What one can do to preserve historic structures and what is an easement. \nThe house is haunted by the history of those who lived there: Hoyts\, Burwells\, Morses\, Birdsalls\, Carters\, Benedicts\, Boutons and Stevens. Residents whose names are found over and over again in papers and documents that comprise the history of New Canaan. \nTom is a man of many interests and talents. He serves on the Board of the CT Trust for Historic Preservation\, is an ardent photographer\, and naturalist who has spent much time on trips to photograph nature. Presently Tom is a realtor in New Canaan\, theatre critic for Ridgelea Reports on Theatre and a preservation expert. Tom’s preservation interests extend from the earliest homes to the modern movement.
