Police on Friday morning arrested a 37-year-old Forest Street woman by warrant in connection with a car crash in October.

At about 6:11 a.m. on March 8, an officer on patrol stoped a vehicle traveling south on South Avenue after a license plate reader check determined that it was owned by a woman for whom police had an active warrant, officials said.

The woman in question was a passenger in the car, according to a police report.

The warrant stemmed from an Oct. 1 crash at Carter Street and Route 123, the report said. Based on test results regarding the woman’s blood-alcohol content level, police charged her with driving under the influence, it said.

She was taken into custody and charged with the misdemeanor offense.

Police released her after she promised to appear March 22 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

  1. Driving under the influence is a repeated common occurrence that will not go away. We need to take note of our loved ones and friends and try to recognize the stressors that lead to the harmful uses of alcohol and drugs. We need to recognize that there are underling stressors in peoples lives that can lead to harm. We need to help people at the root cause, not after the harm has occurred.

  2. Well said, Marty. And I would like to add that I am so glad that New Canaanite doesn’t stoop to the level of publishing the ‘offender’s’ names or photograph. I don’t feel that public stoning can possibly help anyone.
