New Construction Planned for Winfield, Dabney, Richmond Hill

The town on March 31 received an application to build a 9,320-square-foot home at 56 Winfield Lane, a 3.32-acre property that sold last month for $1.8 million. A demolition permit was issued Wednesday for the 1960-built Colonial that stands there now. The new home will include eight rooms on the first floor, including a kitchen, study, two half-baths and mudroom, and eight more on the second floor, including a master bedroom, sitting room and laundry, with a finished attic and partially finished basement, according to the application. It will cost about $1.1 million, the application said. The contractor on the project is Jericho, N.Y.-based Woodcrest Homes LLC, specs by Wilton’s D. Peters Design LLC, the application said.

Three Residential Demolitions In New Canaan, Including Storied Carter Street Home

A demolition permit was issued March 10 for a 1926-bulit Colonial at 85 Carter St., a house that had been steeped in New Canaan tradition as the longtime, multi-generational Karl family home. The 1926-built home had been sitting on a 2.75-acre parcel in the 2-acre zone and has been razed, though no new building application for re-developing the parcel has appeared at the New Canaan Building Department. ***

The town on has issued a permit to demolish a house on a 2.27-acre Country Club Road property that saw new construction go up less than two years ago. UPDATE: A resident with knowledge of this property said the home that underwent demolition is a smaller Colonial located behind the new construction, visible from further east rather than head-on down the driveway. V&A Value Construction in May 2014 received a permit from the town to build a new, 7,690-square-foot home at 90 Country Club Road and, according to the Assessor’s database, that new 2-story Colonial had been the only structure on the property.

New Construction Planned for West Road

A new, 7,800-square-foot home is planned for a 2.09-acre West Road property where a ranch-style house less than half that size currently sits. The new 2.5-story home at 478 West Road will include six bedrooms and bathrooms, two half-baths, a living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, mudroom, laundry, bonus room, 3-car garage and screened porch, according to a building permit application received March 15 at Town Hall. The property is owned by a limited liability company whose principal is a Greenwich resident, tax records show. The new home will cost about $2 million to build, and the contractor on the job is Premier Home Builders LLC of Greenwich, the application said. The architect on the job is Neil Hauck Architects LLC of Darien.

Partial Demolition, Major Addition Underway at 1880-Built Main Street Home

A prominent antique home on Main Street is undergoing a partial demolition and major renovation that will see a new addition attached to the back of the structure, as well as new porches in the front and side. Work at the 1880-built Victorian at 202 Main St. will total an estimated $500,000 and is being carried out by Tarzia Construction of Stamford, according to a permit issued Feb. 11 by the New Canaan Building Department. The project includes removing a deck and demolishing a portion of the existing house to the top of the foundation, increasing the basement by about 75 square feet and framing a new 2.5-story addition over the existing structure to include a new kitchen and family room on the first floor, according to a building permit application filed in November.
