New Canaan Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from Woodridge Circle, reported at 2:10 p.m. Saturday. The car had been left unlocked with the keys inside.

The Town Players of New Canaan is calling for New Canaanites to send (info@tpnc.org, deadline June 21) 30-second videos on “what New Canaan means to me (or what they love about New Canaan, or favorite memories) for use in “Our Town,” a production that’s being done to mark the nation’s 250th. Selectman Amy Murphy Carroll during Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting said of the town’s legal bills, “If people ever have time to look at these, there are these actions that people do in town that cost us a lot in legal bills.” First Selectman Dionna Carlson responded, “Yes, and one that keeps continuing, item number 2.” She appeared to refer to a 2020 lawsuit filed against the town after the Zoning Board of Appeals denied an appeal filed on behalf of a Grace Farms neighbor. According to the legal bill, the town has spent $11,778.34 on the matter this fiscal year.

Stand Together Against Racism or S.T.A.R. is putting on its annual Juneteenth celebration 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Waveny. Here’s a website put together by those seeking to overturn the Town Council’s recently adopted summertime ban on gas-powered leaf blowers. A petition for a referendum vote can be signed at Gregg’s Garden Center on Grove Street.

The First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan’s Ice Cream Social will be held starting at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police on June 9 arrested a 44-year-old Rocky Hill resident and charged her with first-degree failure to appear. They found her at a Lakeview Avenue home while investigating a dispute there and found that a paperless re-arrest warrant had been issued. According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, New Canaan Police arrested her in May 2025 and charged her with two counts of first-degree forgery and 22 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, among other offenses. She’s being held on $250,000 and now is scheduled for arraignment Aug. 4.

The Agency real estate office that opened five years ago on South Avenue at Morse Court appears to have closed. The commercial space at 6 South Ave. is for rent, and the company’s website no longer lists a New Canaan location (there’s one in Fairfield).
