Janet Simpson Benvenuti To Speak at First Presbyterian Church

Wednesday, October, 29, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

$20

Janet Simpson Benvenuti, founder and CEO of Circle of Life Partners and national expert on the issues of aging and eldercare, will present The Maturing Family: Navigating the Journey™ Successfully at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan on Wednesday October 29, from 7-8:30.  This event is open to the public and is presented by the First Presbyterian Church and co-hosted by the Harvard Business School Club of Fairfield County, with underwriting from Davidson, Dawson & Clark LLP.  A suggested donation of $20 will be collected at the door, which includes a copy of Ms. Benvenuti’s book.

Ms. Benvenuti draws upon 25 years in health care to share strategies and resources to help parents and adult children address the many legal, financial, medical, and caregiving challenges, even when the family is operating long-distance. Many people in our community are concerned about the issues of aging, both for themselves and their parents.  This program is designed to address two key issues: how to become informed about the changing healthcare, financial, and legal needs of older adults, and how to create a family plan to address these without negatively impacting the stability of the family group.  Attendees will obtain knowledge and tools to proactively help loved ones (and themselves) navigate the health care system effectively; avoid common and costly legal and financial mistakes; make housing decisions wisely; better utilize on-line, community and local caregiving resources; and enjoy the benefits of longevity.

Ms. Benvenuti is a leading resource on family health advocacy. A former pharmaceutical executive and management consultant, she founded Circle of Life Partners to provide families with the knowledge and guidance they need to support their aging loved ones. Author of Don’t Give Up on Me! and a frequent keynote speaker, Ms. Benvenuti’s programs have been delivered to clinicians, professionals, business executives and the general public in venues such as Harvard Business School, the Women’s Bar Association, and the End-of-Life Consensus Coalition. When she’s not speaking or coaching families personally, she serves as a strategic advisor to health care providers, including the Women’s Health initiative at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and entrepreneurs in the aging/healthcare space. Ms. Benvenuti holds a graduate degree in nuclear chemistry and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

This event is part of First Presbyterian Church’s fall Wednesday Night Adult Education series.  There is an optional dinner served before the class beginning at 5:30 as part of the church’s Wednesday Family Night activities (cost is $10 per person/$25 family) and visitors are warmly welcomed.  Please call the church office at 203-966-0002 by Friday, October 24 to make a reservation.  For more information on this or any other church programs, please call the church office or visit its website www.fpcnc.org. The church is located at 178 Oenoke Ridge.
