Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut
June 5 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeThe Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run started in 1981 as a way for law enforcement to become active in the community and to support Special Olympics by carrying the Flame of Hope throughout every state. Each year, 97,000 law enforcement officers participate in the run, passing the torch off from town to town. Friday June 5th, 2026 will be the day of New Canaan’s portion of the Law Enforcement Torch Run going through New Canaan and starting at 7:00 am, NCPD will be set up at the Pop Up Park (area right outside of Dunkin’ Donuts) to sell merchandise as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Connecticut prior to the run kicking off from here at 9:15 am. This is a great opportunity for members of the community to meet officers from our department and to see the torch be lit as the run kicks off. The run will then go down South Avenue all the way to the border of Darien. We hope you can join us in supporting this great cause!
