St. Mark’s Screening of Documentary Film, The Anonymous People

Sunday, September, 30, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will present a documentary film titled The Anonymous
People on September 30 at 5:30PM. The film explores the over 23.5 million Americans who are in long-term recovery from alcohol and drug addiction and encourages the message of acceptance and open dialogue about what it is to be in recovery. The screening is free and open to those who are in grade 7 and above. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to attend and engage in conversation with young people in a safe and non-judgmental group. Food and refreshments will be served. The event is a collaboration with Mountainside Treatment Center, Kids in Crisis, and Ram Council. Following the film, a group conversation will be led by John Hamilton, Chief Clinical Outreach Officer at Mountainside Treatment Center. John was the Master of Ceremonies at the 2nd Annual Overdose Awareness Vigil that recently took place in New Canaan. It was co-hosted by New Canaan Parent Support Group and New Canaan Community Foundation. “The Anonymous People is a powerful film with a hopeful message and emphasizes how important it is to put a face on recovery and to recognize the courageous journey of individuals who have turned their lives around. No longer should one be ashamed or stigmatized by addiction, because there is hope for all in recovery”, says Hamilton.
