NCPD Hires Two New Officers

The New Canaan Police Department is hiring two Connecticut residents as new officers after seeing 100-plus candidates put in for the positions. Nolan Heintz, 30, of Greenwich, and Christopher Rodrigues, 22, of New Milford, “successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process including a written examination, physical agility testing, interview panel, polygraph, psychological evaluation, background investigation, medical testing, and Police Commission interview,” the department said in a press release.

Most recently employed as a Greenwich Police Department officer, Heintz started his law enforcement career with NYPD after earning a bachelor’s degree in applied psychology from Farmingdale State College. As a sworn officer with a state certification, he will undergo about seven weeks of field training with NCPD before being assigned solo patrol duties as a probationary police officer. Rodrigues graduated from New Milford High School and studied construction technology at Norwalk Community College, working most recently for a relocation company. He will train with the Connecticut Police Academy, graduating March 30, then undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training with the NCPD before being certified as a probationary police officer.
