New Canaan High School’s student-based club Charity Link joined efforts with Walter Stewart’s Market to raise more than $400 for groceries donated to New Canaan’s local food pantry. The initiative included a partnership with the local grocery market to raise awareness within the community about the food insecurities faced in the students’ hometown and its surrounding towns. The students reviewed the needs of the New Canaan Food Pantry and shopped for more than 100 items including canned foods, cleaning products, toiletries, condiments & dressings, and more which were delivered to the pantry Jan. 21. Charity Link’s mission is to give back on a local level where all work is done by the students in and out of school hours. It was founded more than five years ago as a way for young students to give back to the community, and currently has members and representatives from all grade levels.
