The former executive producer of the acclaimed series, “Live from Lincoln Center,” Andrew Wilk, will give members of the New Canaan Men’s Club a sense of what it takes to produce concerts, theater, ballet and other live productions for PBS when he’s interviewed during the club’s meeting Friday (February 14). The interview is titled: “Creating Music, Theatre, Dance and More for Broadcast.”
In his career, Wilk has produced and directed more than 1,000 hours of prime-time television and has won five Emmy Awards, bringing New York Philharmonic concerts, American Ballet Theater performances, productions by the Lincoln Center Theater and ensemble performances by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to home viewers.
A few years ago, he produced Stars on Stage from Westport Country Playhouse featuring performances by Broadway stars Shoshana Bean and the late Gavin Creel, among other Broadway actors, which is available to stream through PBS.
Wilk will be interviewed during the meeting by John Brandt, former president of the YMCA’s Men of Westport and Weston.
The New Canaan Men’s Club meets at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge. Wilk’s interview is scheduled to begin around 10:40 a.m. after the business portion of the meeting concludes.
Before executive producing Live from Lincoln Center, Wilk was chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment and worked for several television networks, including HBO and Disney. He is also an accomplished stage director, writer and symphony conductor. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
