Letter: Thank You, New Canaan

More

I have been privileged to serve the residents of New Canaan for the past 25 years. I began in 2001 as a part-time employee with the New Canaan Fire Department, working as an administrative assistant to the volunteer fire chief. During those early years, while my children were young, I also volunteered for many sports and school programs in our community.

Around 2005, I transitioned to full-time work with the town. Over the years, I’ve worked with several First Selectmen and across a few departments. The longest—and most rewarding—chapter of my career has been the past 17 years at Lapham Community Center, where I first served as Program Manager and later as Director.

I am deeply grateful to this community for supporting our programs and making each day such a joy. Working for and alongside all of you has truly been an honor.

As I look ahead to retirement on June 8, I am both happy and excited. For years, I’ve joked with my husband that full-time work was getting in the way of my hobbies—especially my passions for Mahjongg and needlepoint! Now, with my first grandchild on the way, I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter and help care for this little bundle of joy. It feels like life is coming full circle, back to one of my favorite roles—raising young children.

I will still be around town, and I hope to see many of you out and about—perhaps walking the baby at Irwin Park or visiting the library and the Nature Center. I also plan to teach needlepoint on select Saturdays at The Enriched Stitch in Wilton and will continue offering small-group and private lessons in American Mahjongg.

With so many wonderful local resources—the New Canaan Library, Nature Center, Historical Society, and Lapham Center—I know this next chapter will be full of fun, friendship, and new adventures, along with time for travel and lunches with friends.

This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply “see you around town.”

With gratitude,
Aggie aka ‘Glamma”
