The New Canaan Building Department last week issued a permit to build a new home at 137 Harrison Ave., a .18-acre property that sold for $710,000 in September.

The new home will approximately quadruple the amount of living space over the house that had stood there previously.
To be built for an estimated $650,000 by New Canaan’s Stellar Homes LLC and designed by Jim Schettino, the new home will include five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a walk-up attic that’s finished, finished basement, covered porch with exterior fireplace and patio out back, as well as a 2-car garage, according to an application filed Nov. 30 and updated information from its listing agent.

It will include 4,260 square feet on the main floors and 750 in the basement, the agent said.

The town on Feb. 3 issued a permit to build a new 5,000-square-foot home at 43 Hawthorne Road, formerly the site of a 1949 Cape about one-third that size.

The $800,000 job will be overseen by owner Lanni LLC, which purchased the .39-acre lot in October, tax records show.
