Police on Tuesday night arrested a 52-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with disorderly conduct and second-degree threatening.
At about 7:01 p.m. on Dec. 15, officers were dispatched to a Parish Road home regarding a domestic dispute that involved the man and another occupant of the residence, according to a police report.
The threatening charge was brought during the process of arresting him on the misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, the report said.
Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree threatening when “[b]y physical threat, such person intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury” or “threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another person.”
It’s unclear what the dispute involved, whether or how the arrested man is related to the victim, whether the dispute turned physical and what he did to get the threatening charge.
Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.
The man was held on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court.
