Police on Monday night arrested two men on a slew of drug charges after finding marijuana, a significant amount of cash, scale, smoking gear and hash oil in their car during a traffic stop.

At about 9:24 p.m. on March 19, an officer on patrol saw a car run the stop sign at Grove Street and Richmond Hill Road, according to a police report.
During a subsequent stop at Weed Street and Indian Waters Drive, the officer saw two clear Ziploc bags with pot inside, the report said. The officer deployed Apollo, the department’s K-9 dog, and as a result police found more than 2.5 ounces of marijuana, as well as a digital scale, more than $500 in cash, multi-colored glass pipe and clear glass container of hash oil, it said.
The driver, a 19-year-old from Newtown, was charged with conspiracy to sell a controlled substance and conspiracy to possess more than .5 ounces of marijuana. He was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear March 28 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
The passenger, 22-year-old Brandon Ryan of Trumbull, was charged with use and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as sale and possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
He had been charged Jan. 25 with use of drug paraphernalia as well as two felony offenses—risk of injury to a child and possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records. In that incident, police found pot, cash, scale, baggies and smoking gear on Ryan during a traffic stop on Smith Ridge Road.
Ryan was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear March 20 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
