Arrest Made in Case of Theft from New Canaan Good Samaritans

Police have arrested a 22-year-0ld New Canaan man whose name was on five checks that they said were stolen and forged from two local men in April. The two men, both 28 years old, had allowed a woman to stay in their home when she needed a home this spring. In April, one of the men told police he noticed that $300 in cash was missing, then found some checks were missing and had been cashed. Some of the cashed checks were made out to the woman or had her endorsement on them, according to police. Then, one of the roommates noticed $300 in cash missing from his room, and when confronted the woman guest told them she didn’t take it, according to a police report.

Police: New Canaan Woman Used Pit Bull on Man & Woman in a Dispute

In a confrontation with another woman, a 28-year-old New Canaan woman brought along her pit bull, which attacked and bit the other woman, town police said. The dog’s attack left three scratches on the left leg of a 21-year-old New Canaan woman, along with a “pin-sized mark” in the same place, police said. The victim’s 25-year-old boyfriend, a Bronx resident, went to her defense, then was grabbed by the New Canaan dog owner, who started choking him. Police: Angry Teenager Threatened, Threw Glasses at Mother

An 18-year-0ld Sunrise Avenue resident in an argument with his mother said he’d shoot his her if he had a gun (he didn’t), then got on a plane and went to Nantucket, New Canaan police said. The incident happened in an argument on July 25, and was reported to police at 3 p.m. the next day, although by 5 p.m. the son had gone to Westchester County Airport and took a flight to Nantucket. He had also thrown glasses at her and threatened to kill himself, police were told. New Canaan police applied for and received an arrest warrant charging the son with second-degree threatening. Nantucket police took him into custody, and the man later turned himself in on Aug.

Talmadge Hill Road Closed at RR Crossing from Aug. 14 to 20

Work on the railroad crossing on Talmadge Hill Road next to the train station there will shut the street for traffic at that spot from Friday, Aug. 14 through Thursday, Aug. 20, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced. The street is expected to be closed at that point starting at 10 am.. on Friday, and not expected to reopen until 4 p.m. the following Thursday, the department announced.
