Police last week arrested a 57-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with driving under the influence.

At about 7:54 a.m. on June 17 (a Tuesday), officers responded to the area of 49 North Wilton Road on a report of a single-car crash, police said.

There, officers found the driver walking along the roadway, according to a police report.

In speaking to him, the officers determined that he had been drinking and showed signs of impairment, the report said.

After administering field sobriety tests, police brought the misdemeanor charge. He also was charged with evading responsibility.

Police transported the man to headquarters. There, he provided two breath samples that established his blood-alcohol level at .1257—half again as much the legal limit—and .107.

He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear July 1 in state Superior Court.
