Stolen vehicles more than doubled year-over-year through the first eight months of 2026, according to data shared Wednesday night by Police Chief John DiFederico at a regular Police Commission meeting, from 11 to 25. It’s due to people leaving vehicles unlocked with the keys inside, the chief said.

Coming Saturday: Silvermine Galleries from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 is presenting an artists’ reception, open to the public, for the 76th Annual A-One exhibition, running now through Oct. 22.

New Canaan Police at 8:26 a.m. on Sept. 10 received a report of a dead raccoon on a Danvers Lane property that her dog “may have come in with,” according to Officer Sean Godejohn, head of the department’s Animal Control section.

A 33-year-old Queens, N.Y. woman was charged with making a terroristic threat after reportedly telling fellow passengers on the 7:12 a.m. train from New Canaan on Wednesday, “This will be your last day on Earth,” according to ABC’s Eyewitness News.

New Canaan-based Connecticut Stage Company will open its fourth season with “My Fair Lady” in concert, with performances on Oct. 17 (at 7 p.m.) and 18 (2 p.m.) at New Canaan Library. Produced in partnership with the library, which will benefit from a portion of ticket sales, “My Fair Lady” is directed by Kate Simone and produced by Lorah Haskins, with music direction by Evan Trotter-Wright and choreography by Chris McNiff. The show stars Broadway actors including Maria Bilbao (Sweeney Todd) as Eliza Doolittle and Michael Halling (My Fair Lady, The Pajama Game, The Boy from Oz) as Henry Higgins, as well as Scott Willis (An American in Paris, State Fair) as Colonel Pickering, Michael Maliakel (Aladdin, The Great Gatsby) as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, and Michael Hegarty (My Fair Lady Nat’l Tour) as Alfred Doolittle, and Jessica Tyler Wright (Company, Sweeney Todd, War Horse) as Mrs. Pearce/Mrs Eynsford-Hill.

The New Canaan Housing Authority last week filed papers to evict a tenant at the former Avalon property on Lakeview Avenue, saying they failed to pay $6,007 in monthly rent since May.

The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday voted 3-0 to remove Parking Manager Kevin O’Connor from probationary status, praising the work he has done since taking on the role earlier this year.

New Canaan Chamber Music’s next concert, titled “The Art of Violinist Benjamin Beilman,” will be held on Sept. 24 (3 p.m.) and 25 (7 p.m.) at First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan.
