Dear New Canaanite,
I just wanted to give a shout out to an amazing evening, an amazing organization and the amazing talent of all the people involved with the first annual New Canaan Dance Academy Foundation Gala, held this past weekend at the New Canaan Library (which, btw, makes for a GREAT event space).
A lifetime ago, I was lucky enough to work with Bono and Bobby Shriver to get the (RED) organization off-the-ground to address the global AIDS crisis. What Scarlett Stewart and Elaine Young pulled off, and pulled together, Saturday night reminded me of the “making-a-difference” excitement we had during those early days.
What she did (along with her great group of supporters and collaborators) was nothing short of awe-inspiring. That the evening raised a ton of money that’ll go to help great organizations like Broadway Cares, Bridgeport’s Klein Theater and the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation is even more so.
Plus, to see the incredible creativity, dedication, confidence and joy all the dancers exuded in their performances was inspirational and simply mind-blowing.
Top-hats off to all who made this incredible night happen, and to make the creative dreams of kids and performers in our surrounding communities come true.
