To the Editor:

St. Mark’s Church wishes to express our gratitude to the residents of New Canaan and neighboring communities for supporting the 2023 annual St. Mark’s May Fair.

This year’s event drew record crowds –we estimate that more than 7,000 people turned out for Friday Night Lights and Saturday’s festivities, helping St. Mark’s Church raise funds that support ongoing outreach ministries, including grants to other nonprofits serving those in need.

Our sincerest thanks goes to the more than 400 volunteers who make May Fair happen. May Fair is a fully volunteer-led effort that wouldn’t be possible without the people who devote their time, talent and energy for many months in advance and many hours onsite.  Every aspect of the event is led by tireless individuals – from making and serving our signature Strawberry Shortcake and Holy Smokers BBQ, to organizing the White Elephant tag sale and orchestrating a wide variety of fun activities, May Fair truly is an incredible team effort.  A special shout out to the weather for making a strong showing, delivering sunny skies both days!

We offer special thanks to the following community groups for their help:

  • BSA Troop 70
  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
  • First Presbyterian Church
  • Future 5
  • GetAbout
  • New Canaan Nature Center
  • Old Faithful Antique Fire Engine Association
  • Pivot Ministries

Lastly, we are abundantly grateful to St. Mark’s staff for their invaluable assistance and to St. Mark’s clergy for their unwavering dedication, leadership, and care.

With this one in the books, we are looking forward to next year! Mark your calendars for May Fair 2024—Friday Night Lights, May 10th and Saturday May 11th.

Sincerely,

David Shea, Chairman,  May Fair 2023
