Addiction & Mental Health in The Era of Coronavirus

Thursday, November, 5, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for a virtual speaker event: “Addiction & Mental Health in The Era of Coronavirus” with Gary Mendell of Shatterproof.

The ongoing challenges presented by the global Coronavirus pandemic have had a particularly devastating effect on the nation’s dual epidemic: addiction and mental health disorders. Isolation and uncertainty compounded by limited access to treatment have led to a rise in reported opioid-related deaths in more than 40 states.

In a free, virtual presentation, Gary Mendell, Founder and CEO of Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reversing the addiction crisis in America, will discuss how those affected by addiction are now facing even greater challenges and will offer guidance on how to support loved ones with substance use disorder and find treatment in these difficult times.

Since founding Shatterproof, Mr. Mendell has been recognized as a national leader in the addiction space, working to transform how opioid and substance use disorders are treated. His priorities include revolutionizing the treatment system, breaking down addiction-related stigmas and supporting and empowering our communities.

The virtual event will take place from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Hosted by NAMI Southwest CT, affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the presentation is free and open to the public.
