Chamber head describes its role supporting town’s economic development

October 24 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

Laura Budd, executive director of New Canaan’s Chamber of Commerce, will describe how the organization carries out its multiple roles advocating for the town’s businesses and serving as a liaison linking them with local nonprofits, the municipality and residents in remarks Friday, October. 24, at the New Canaan Men’s Club’s meeting in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Budd, who began at the chamber in 2012 as a marketing associate, was named its executive director in 2020. Prior to that, she was in marketing and advertising for various firms.
The Men’s Club meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Budd’s presentation beginning around 10:40 a.m.
The Chamber has 380 members comprised of New Canaan’s various merchants, restaurants, nonprofits, professional organizations, such as law firms, medical offices and service organizations. Budd is expected to discuss how the Chamber works with its members to promote the overall business community within New Canaan, with the goal of “increasing their visibility, and ultimately sales.”
The Chamber also promotes town events, such as this Saturday’s Autumn Stroll at Grace Farms, and the weekend performances of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical In the Heights, produced by the Connecticut Stage Company being performed at the New Canaan Library.
The Men’s Club has openings for men 55-years old and above. For information, email ncmens@ncmens.org.
