Laura Budd, executive director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, will update members of the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday on the state of the town’s business community, the Chamber’s ongoing marketing efforts to raise awareness about the town as a commercial center, and the recent addition of retail outlets occupying its storefronts.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, with Budd’s remarks slated to follow the business portion of the meeting at about 10:40 a.m.
Budd joined the Chamber 11 years ago to handle the organization’s expanding marketing efforts and oversee the office operations. She was named executive director in 2020. She came to the Chamber after a career in various media director roles at several of the largest advertising agencies in the business.
Since the pandemic, the downtown has seen a resurgence of new retail outlets.
The announcement of her appearance at the men’s club notes that the “character and purpose of the New Canaan Chamber has always been determined by the needs and requirements of the business community in and around the downtown district, as well as local non-profits and residents.”
Budd received her B.A. in American Studies from Skidmore College.
